About HEIC to WEBP
HEIC to WEBP converts HEIC files to WebP. HEIC is the High Efficiency Image format used by recent iPhones and iPads; it stores photos at about half the size of JPG but is not supported everywhere. WebP is a modern web image format that can be lossy or lossless and supports transparency and animation, usually at smaller sizes than JPG or PNG.

Step-by-step instructions for this conversion.

Confirm WebP as the output format and, if offered, adjust quality or size.
Start the conversion. The file is uploaded and converted on our servers while the progress bar updates.
Download the WebP file and check it before deleting the original.
Differences between the two formats that affect the result.
HEIC photos often open only on Apple devices and newer Windows setups, so converting to JPG or PNG makes them shareable.
Conversions done in your browser drop embedded metadata such as camera details and GPS location. Files converted on our servers keep it, so remove location data first if that matters to you.

If your browser can decode this format itself (Safari can open HEIC; support for the others varies), files up to about 25 MB on desktop and 10 MB on mobile are converted on your device without uploading. Otherwise the file is uploaded to our servers over HTTPS, converted, and deleted afterwards by an automated cleanup job. See the Privacy Policy for details.

Where a quality control is shown on the page you can lower it for smaller files or raise it for better detail. Browser conversions default to quality 92 out of 100; server conversions use 90 for JPG and 80 for WebP.
Make sure the file really is HEIC (renaming an extension does not change the format) and that it opens correctly on your device. Password-protected, DRM-protected or corrupted files are rejected. If the file is very large, try again with a smaller one.

Files above the in-browser size limit, low-powered devices, and browsers that cannot decode or produce the format are handled on the server automatically. The result is the same format.
