About HEIC to JPG
Convert iPhone and iPad HEIC photos into JPG files that open on Windows, Android, older Macs and every website. Browsers that can decode HEIC themselves (mainly Safari) can convert small files without uploading them; otherwise the photo is converted on our servers.
The formats involved, when to use this conversion, and where it runs.
HEIC is the High Efficiency Image format used by recent iPhones and iPads; it stores photos at about half the size of JPG but is not supported everywhere.
JPG (JPEG) is a lossy photo format that discards fine detail to keep files small. It has no transparency and no animation.
Sharing iPhone photos with people or websites that cannot open HEIC, such as many upload forms, older Windows PCs and Android apps.
Converted on our servers with our image processing service. The file travels over HTTPS and is deleted automatically afterwards.
Desktop, tablet, or mobile—use the same workflow on any device.

What happens to your file from upload to download.
The file type and size are checked before anything is processed, so unsupported files are rejected straight away.

Step-by-step instructions for this conversion.
Add your HEIC file by dragging it into the upload area or choosing it from your device.
Confirm JPG as the output format and, if offered, adjust quality or size.
Start the conversion. The file is uploaded and converted on our servers while the progress bar updates.
Download the JPG file and check it before deleting the original.
Differences between the two formats that affect the result.
HEIC photos often open only on Apple devices and newer Windows setups, so converting to JPG or PNG makes them shareable.
Every JPG save is lossy, so choose a high quality setting for photos you plan to edit again. Transparent areas are filled with white.
JPG cannot store transparency, so transparent areas in the HEIC are filled with a solid background. If you need to keep a see-through background, choose PNG or WebP instead.
Conversions done in your browser drop embedded metadata such as camera details and GPS location. Files converted on our servers keep it, so remove location data first if that matters to you.
Where your photo is processed depends on your browser.
If your browser can decode HEIC (mainly Safari), photos up to about 25 MB (10 MB on mobile) are converted to JPG on your device.
Otherwise the photo is uploaded over HTTPS, decoded on our servers and saved as a JPG at quality 90, then deleted by the automated cleanup job.
Location and camera details stored in the HEIC are not copied into the JPG by either path.
If a HEIC file holds several images, only the main image is converted.
If you always need JPG.
On iPhone, Settings > Camera > Formats > Most Compatible saves new photos as JPG.
Settings > Photos > Transfer to Mac or PC > Automatic converts photos to JPG when they are copied to a computer.

Common answers so you can keep moving.
HEIC stores a similar-looking photo in a smaller file. Converting to JPG makes the file larger and adds a little compression loss, which is rarely visible at quality 90.
A Live Photo is saved as a HEIC still plus a separate video. Converting the HEIC gives you the still image only.

JPG has no transparency, so transparent pixels are filled with white. Use PNG or WebP to keep transparency.
Where a quality control is shown on the page you can lower it for smaller files or raise it for better detail. Browser conversions default to quality 92 out of 100; server conversions use 90 for JPG and 80 for WebP.
Make sure the file really is HEIC (renaming an extension does not change the format) and that it opens correctly on your device. Password-protected, DRM-protected or corrupted files are rejected. If the file is very large, try again with a smaller one.

Files above the in-browser size limit, low-powered devices, and browsers that cannot decode or produce the format are handled on the server automatically. The result is the same format.
