About PDF to PowerPoint
Convert each page of a PDF into a PowerPoint (PPTX) slide. Slides use the same size as the PDF pages, and text is placed in editable text boxes with its font, size, colour and alignment, alongside the page images and tables.
The formats involved, when to use this conversion, and where it runs.
PDF is a fixed-layout document format designed to look the same on every device. It is built for viewing and printing rather than editing.
PowerPoint files hold slides with text, images, shapes and animations.
Reusing pages from a PDF deck, handout or report in a presentation you can edit and present.
Converted on our servers with our PDF conversion service. The file travels over HTTPS and is deleted automatically afterwards.
Desktop, tablet, or mobile—use the same workflow on any device.

What happens to your file from upload to download.
The file type and size are checked before anything is processed, so unsupported files are rejected straight away.

Step-by-step instructions for this conversion.

Confirm PowerPoint as the output format.

Download the PowerPoint file and check it before deleting the original.
Differences between the two formats that affect the result.
PDF stores positioned text rather than flowing paragraphs, so complex layouts (multi-column pages, tables, forms) may need manual cleanup after conversion. Pages with little or no selectable text are run through English OCR, which handles clear printed text but not handwriting or other languages.
How PDF pages map to slides.
One slide per PDF page, with the slide size set to the page size.
Text is placed in text boxes at its original position, keeping font, size, colour, bold, italic and alignment where possible.
Images are placed and scaled to match the page; tables become native PowerPoint tables.
A PDF does not contain everything a presentation does.
Animations, transitions, speaker notes and slide masters are not stored in PDFs, so they cannot be recreated.
Charts and diagrams arrive as images or separate shapes, not as editable PowerPoint charts.
Because text keeps its exact position, editing a long paragraph may need some manual adjustment of the text box.

You download a new PowerPoint file; your PDF file is not changed.
This conversion runs on ToolzStack servers: your file is uploaded over HTTPS, converted, and kept only so that you can download the result. An automated cleanup job then deletes it (see the Privacy Policy for the current retention period).

Common answers so you can keep moving.
Yes. Text is placed in normal text boxes. Text that was part of an image in the PDF (for example a scanned page) stays part of that image.
Slides take the size of the original PDF pages. Change the slide size in PowerPoint (Design > Slide Size) if you need a different format.

Some change is possible because PDF and PowerPoint store data differently. Keep the original file until you have checked the result.

Make sure the file really is PDF (renaming an extension does not change the format) and that it opens correctly on your device. Password-protected, DRM-protected or corrupted files are rejected. If the file is very large, try again with a smaller one.
