About PDF to Excel
Extract tables from a PDF into an Excel (XLSX) workbook. The converter looks for tables on every page using ruling lines and the alignment of text, then writes each table into spreadsheet cells so you can sort, filter and calculate with the data.
The formats involved, when to use this conversion, and where it runs.
PDF is a fixed-layout document format designed to look the same on every device. It is built for viewing and printing rather than editing.
Excel files hold cells, formulas and multiple sheets.
Getting figures out of bank statements, invoices, price lists and reports so you can work with them in Excel, Google Sheets or LibreOffice Calc.

Differences between the two formats that affect the result.
PDF stores positioned text rather than flowing paragraphs, so complex layouts (multi-column pages, tables, forms) may need manual cleanup after conversion. Pages with little or no selectable text are run through English OCR, which handles clear printed text but not handwriting or other languages.
What to expect when you open the XLSX file.
A sheet named "All Tables" lists every detected table, one after another.
Each table also gets its own sheet, named after its page and position, for example "Page_2_Table_1".
If no tables are found, the text of the PDF is placed on a sheet called "Document Text" so the file is never empty.
Column widths are adjusted to fit the content.
Table extraction is not perfect; check these points.
Tables without visible lines, or with merged cells, can be split or merged incorrectly.
A table that continues onto the next page is extracted as separate tables.
Numbers can arrive as text; use Excel's "Convert to Number" option if formulas do not work.
Scanned PDFs need clear, straight scans for table text to be read correctly.

Common answers so you can keep moving.
No. A PDF only stores the printed values, so the workbook contains those values, not the formulas that produced them.
The whole PDF is converted. To convert a single page, extract it first with Extract Pages from PDF and convert that file.

Some change is possible because PDF and Excel store data differently. Keep the original file until you have checked the result.

Make sure the file really is PDF (renaming an extension does not change the format) and that it opens correctly on your device. Password-protected, DRM-protected or corrupted files are rejected. If the file is very large, try again with a smaller one.
