About PNG to SVG
Trace a PNG into an SVG vector outline. The image is converted to greyscale, split into dark and light at a fixed brightness threshold, and the dark shapes are traced into smooth vector paths. The result is a single-colour SVG that scales to any size without blurring.
The formats involved, when to use this conversion, and where it runs.
PNG is a lossless raster format that supports full transparency. It suits screenshots, logos and graphics with sharp edges, but photographs make large PNG files.
SVG is a vector format described by shapes and paths, so it scales to any size without blurring.
Simple black-and-white logos, icons, signatures, stencils and line art, for example for cutting machines, laser engraving or scalable web icons.

What happens to your file from upload to download.
The file type and size are checked before anything is processed, so unsupported files are rejected straight away.

Step-by-step instructions for this conversion.
Add your PNG file by dragging it into the upload area or choosing it from your device.
Confirm SVG as the output format and, if offered, adjust quality or size.
Start the conversion. The file is uploaded and converted on our servers while the progress bar updates.
Download the SVG file and check it before deleting the original.
Differences between the two formats that affect the result.
Converting a picture to SVG here is a tracing process, not a lossless conversion: the image is turned into greyscale, split at a fixed brightness threshold and traced into a single-colour outline. Colours and gradients are not kept, specks of 2 pixels or less are dropped, and images larger than 1,024 pixels are scaled down first.
Tracing works from contrast, so a little preparation helps.
Use a high-contrast image: dark artwork on a plain light background traces best.
Remove shadows, gradients and textured backgrounds first; they become blobs or are lost.
Images larger than 1,024 pixels on a side are scaled down before tracing, so very fine detail in large images can be simplified.
Specks of 2 pixels or less are ignored, which removes noise but also tiny dots.
So you can choose the right tool.
It does not keep colours: the output has one colour. Multi-colour logos need a dedicated colour tracer or redrawing in a vector editor.
It does not embed the original PNG inside the SVG; the paths are a real trace.
Photographs do not trace into useful vectors.

Common answers so you can keep moving.
The tracer produces a single-colour outline from the dark parts of the image. You can recolour the paths in any vector editor or with the SVG's fill attribute.
Yes. The output is standard SVG path data that opens in Inkscape, Illustrator, Figma and similar editors.

Make sure the file really is PNG (renaming an extension does not change the format) and that it opens correctly on your device. Password-protected, DRM-protected or corrupted files are rejected. If the file is very large, try again with a smaller one.
