About BMP to JPG
BMP to JPG converts BMP files to JPG. BMP is an old, usually uncompressed Windows bitmap format, so files are very large. JPG (JPEG) is a lossy photo format that discards fine detail to keep files small. It has no transparency and no animation.

Sharing photos by email, chat and upload forms that expect JPG, where small files matter more than perfect detail.
Small files are converted in your browser and never uploaded. Larger files are converted on our servers and deleted afterwards.
Desktop, tablet, or mobile—use the same workflow on any device.

What happens to your file from upload to download.
The file type and size are checked before anything is processed, so unsupported files are rejected straight away.
Small files are converted to JPG on your device. Larger files are uploaded over HTTPS and converted with our image processing service.
Save the result to your device. Copies on our servers are deleted automatically by a cleanup job.

Step-by-step instructions for this conversion.
Add your BMP file by dragging it into the upload area or choosing it from your device.
Confirm JPG as the output format and, if offered, adjust quality or size.
Start the conversion. Small files are converted in your browser; larger ones are uploaded and converted on our servers.
Download the JPG file and check it before deleting the original.
Differences between the two formats that affect the result.
Every JPG save is lossy, so choose a high quality setting for photos you plan to edit again. Transparent areas are filled with white.
JPG compression is lossy, so expect a smaller file and a small loss of fine detail. Avoid repeatedly re-saving the same image.
Conversions done in your browser drop embedded metadata such as camera details and GPS location. Files converted on our servers keep it, so remove location data first if that matters to you.

BMP to JPG
You download a new JPG file; your BMP file is not changed. Small files never leave your device.
Files up to about 30 MB on desktop (15 MB on mobile) are converted inside your browser, so the image is not uploaded. Larger files, low-powered devices, or a browser that cannot produce the format are handled on our servers instead: the file is uploaded over HTTPS and deleted afterwards by an automated cleanup job. See the Privacy Policy for details.

Where a quality control is shown on the page you can lower it for smaller files or raise it for better detail. Browser conversions default to quality 92 out of 100; server conversions use 90 for JPG and 80 for WebP.
Make sure the file really is BMP (renaming an extension does not change the format) and that it opens correctly on your device. Password-protected, DRM-protected or corrupted files are rejected. If the file is very large, try again with a smaller one.

Files above the in-browser size limit, low-powered devices, and browsers that cannot decode or produce the format are handled on the server automatically. The result is the same format.
